Big Tancook Island, my home-away-from home

Dear Knitters,

Signs of Spring in Nova Scotia Signs of Spring...and mud Happy Spring!
Here's hoping that spring has sprung in your neighbourhood --- with apologies to our friends in the Southern Hemisphere. It's got a long way to go here: spring is not a season that Nova Scotia is noted for. At this point, we are just hoping for abating snowbanks, with wishes for leaves on the trees by June!
March came in like a lion and went out like, well, a somewhat tamer lion on the East Coast this year. In fact, we've had more winter weather in March than we had in January and February put together.
Our Spring Inventory Sale will help you welcome the season!

SnowFire DK Blanket, Side A SnowFire DK Blanket, Side B My Newest Patterns
It's a bitter-sweet feeling knowing that my SnowFire DK Blanket is finished and I'm fighting the urge to knit another one!
The blanket was on my needles for about seven months, so I miss it sorely now it is done. It traveled with me from Tancook Island, Nova Scotia, to the UK, around 900 miles of the UK canal network, with quick jaunt to Nelson, British Columbia, and eventually back to Canada.
The pattern, which includes 18 video links, is now available. Even if you never plan to knit a blanket, watch the videos. It's a bargain for $12.00CAD!

Aqueduct DK Hat Aqueduct DK Tea Cozy Also fresh off the needles is the Aqueduct DK Hat and Tea Cozy, a multi-size pattern adaptable to yarns from fingering to worsted weights.
This unique design pays homage to the Pontcysllte Aqueduct in Wales, depicting narrowboats transiting the waterway. Options include a hat and tea cozy, and a fold up brim for extra warmth.
This pattern includes 10 video links.

Tancook Knitters! Upcoming Knitting Classes
My needles are currently empty. This feels most odd, but I have 30 new colours of Blue Faced Leicester about to emerge from the dye pot and I can hardly wait to play! This yarn will become the basis of our camp project for Knitting on the Wild Side Camp on Big Tancook Island in September. Camp filled in 5 minutes this year - a new record!
However, in light of the sad knitters who missed the slot, we have decided to offer an Encore Camp the following week. The dates for the new camp are from September 22 - 28th, and we still have a couple of spots open! If you are interested in joining in, please email us for the brochure.

April Workshops If you are quick, you might be able to catch me in the Ottawa area in mid-April. I'll be teaching at Wool Tyme on Friday April 13th, the Ottawa Knitting Guild from April 14 to 16th), and Kawartha Hooks and Needles on April 19th.
Very shortly after my return home, John and I will be heading back to the UK for another slow sojourn around the canal system.
If you'd like to follow my journey I'll be posting pics on Instagram (lucyknit), Twitter (@LucyNeatby) and FaceBook!

DK Technique Club Changes at Tradewinds
Our wonderful web designer and guru Corrie is looking to take things a little easier, and will be stepping away from some of her responsibilities at the shop.

As Corrie has been invaluable in formatting some of the products at the website, we will be slightly modifying the presentation of future videos in my DK Technique Club. Not to worry, though, as the Club will continue to grow!
Building on the basics covered in my Double Knitting Delight DVD and my Foundations of Double Knitting Craftsy class, this club offers an ever-expanding collection of advanced double knitting technique videos, accompanied with workshop style written notes.
The videos will be available in a different format henceforth (still working on the technical details here). Join the conversation in the accompanying DK Technique Club Group on Ravelry! Thus far, I have uploaded 30-plus techniques and videos to the club, with more coming. You can join the gang for a one-time membership fee of $45CAD!

Wishing you Happy Stitches,

Lucy

Lucky Dip Pattern Collection

Back in the days of paper-only patterns, we were fortunate to sell wonderful designs by Ilga Leja and Catherine Vardy in addition to Lucy patterns. Our new website, the transition to digital photos, and various other technicalities now prevent us from marketing these patterns.
We are on the last of these wonderful, but now-neglected, patterns (including some of my own old style patterns). Rather than putting them into a landfill, we have been offering them as a collection! For $10 Cdn (plus shipping and applicable taxes), you will receive a surprise package of 10 diverse patterns.
The range of designs is very wide! There are mittens (fulled and otherwise), tams, booties, shawls, scarves, socks, hats and sweaters--to name but a few. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
You'll find this special pattern collection, and many more sale items, in the Clearance section of my website.
